Our cavity wall brushes
have been used for several decades as the ideal solution to separate the cavity at the party wall prior to filling with blown cavity wall insulation. Our cavity barrier brushes are easy to install and are very effective.
It is more than likely that homes built after 1920 have external walls made from two layers with a gap or cavity in between. Cavity wall insulation is designed to fill that gap, keeping the warmth in to save energy and reduce impact on the environment. It can also help reduce condensation inside the house if this is a problem stemming from external walls.
When a semi-detached or terraced property is insulated with cavity fibre or bead, a cavity barrier brush is inserted in the dividing wall between the properties to contain the insulation and remains in place when the installation is completed. It is essential that no insulation is injected into adjoining buildings as this would be classified as trespass and could, in some situations, lead to water penetrating the adjoining building. If cavity wall barrier brushes are not included in an installation, it often results in poor, uneven filling of the cavity or voids in the insulation.
Two cavity barriers are generally required in semi-detached or end of terrace properties, and four cavity barriers in mid-terrace properties.Cavity wall insulation brush standard sizes available
